We offer three levels of customization: Standard, Made to Measure, and Made to Measure + Mockup Service w/ remote virtual fitting. All corsets are made to order regardless of level of customization.

Standard sizes take the least time to make and are least expensive. Choose from "standard" or "standard tight-lacing" size charts. Standard sizes do not include mockup. Available only with Made to Measure corsets. Your corset pattern will be drafted using client-provided measurements. A fully boned mockup will be made to test the fit before your final corset is created. Your mockup will be shipped to your home. You will receive instructions directing you to try the mockup for a Zoom web-based video call. During this remote virtual fitting, Alexis will evaluate the fit and instruct you and your trusted assistant to mark the suggested changes directly on the mockup. After the virtual fitting, you will be asked to take a set of photos of you wearing the marked mockup. Once changes have been agreed upon, and your photos have been received and approved, Alexis will instruct you to return the mockup to her. The marked mockup, along with Alexis’ notes will be used to modify your corset pattern and create your final corset. The success of remote fitting is largely dependent on your ability to follow directions, communicate, and provide information in a timely fashion. Your images will be kept confidential. With over 20 years of experience, Electra Designs has pioneered and perfected the remote fitting process. Remote fittings can be done using only photos and measurements sent via email, however video conferencing yields more accurate results, second only to in-person fittings.
Available only with Made to Measure corsets. During your first fitting, Alexis will personally record your unique measurements and take pictures of your torso. A boned corset mockup will be created using your measurements. During your second fitting, Alexis will lace you up in the mockup. She will personally evaluate the fit, mark and pin the mockup, and take pictures. After changes have been agreed upon, your final corset will be made. Whenever possible, a personal fitting is preferable to remote virtual fitting because it is less responsibility for you, and may result in a better fit. Your images will be kept confidential. Personal fittings will be conducted in Electra Designs' home studio near Austin, Texas.
We do not charge more for plus sizing, however, we do recommend certain upgrades for fuller figures. For example, additional boning or a heavy duty busk will provide greater support, reduction and shaping for full figures. These upgrades are optional. Some embellishments are greatly affected by corset size as well, and may cost more for larger sizes (for example trims, appliques or crystals).
Electra standard size corsets (unless specified) are designed to fit the skeletal structure of females with flexible lower ribs. If you are gender variant (trans-female, trans-male, or cross dresser) and desirous of a more feminine appearance or are wishing to minimize female curves, we highly recommend you order Made to Measure plus mockup service. Personal fittings are desirable when possible. Due to the complexity involved in engineering transformative garments, some clients may require more than one mockup, and/or more than the allotted number of fittings included with the purchase of "Mockup with Personal Fitting Service". Additional mockups and fitting sessions may be purchased for a fee.
If you are a cis-male, desirous of a masculine corseted silhouette, the process is much less involved, but we still recommend higher levels of customization for the best fit.

Hand-embroidered X's and V's at the tips of boning may be done using DMC embroidery floss, pearl cotton, silk floss or silk ribbon. Flossing is both functional and decorative. Flossing holds bones in place while adding beauty and texture to the corset.

Corsetiere, Alexis Black is available for in-person consultations, personal shopping and fittings by appointment. Personal fittings are available $50 for the first hour+ $25 for each additional hour/per session. Personal fittings are included with purchase of "mockup service with personal fitting". Consultations and fittings take place in Alexis' home studio near Austin, Texas. We reserve the right to refuse personal fitting service to anyone.

Electra Designs cannot estimate customs fees, which vary, and are the responsibility of the client upon receipt of goods.
We accept Google Checkout, cashier's checks, money orders and personal checks. We also accept international wire transfers ($300 minimum/ $50 fee per transfer to help cover hidden bank fees). Cash accepted at personal fittings.

The time it takes to make your corset depends on numerous factors such as: level of customization, style, embellishments, number of items in your order, accuracy of measurements, how long it takes you to provide information and return the mockup, how many other orders we are working on, etc. When you place your order, be sure to ask for an estimate of how long your specific order will take to complete. We will make every effort to complete your order by the estimated completion date. If you have a special event for which you need your corset, please discuss your timeline with us before you order.
